Corrin Tulk MA

Corrin enjoys creating abstract seascape paintings in oils on canvas. She lives in the Norfolk Broads and sketches the nearby East Anglia coastline using a bright colour palette to interpret coastal erosion and the expansive beauty of the area. The paint is layered to create texture and drama using the edges of palette knives, sometimes sanding back the upper surface to reveal an underpainting before applying yet more paint.

Corrin was shortlisted for the Sir John Hurt Art prize, Holt in August 2019.

She is inspired by several painters, Cy Twombly for texture and large scale paintings, Fred Williams for courageous use of colour in his outback paintings and Wilhelmina Barnes-Graham for surprising colour compositions.

Corrin worked in the Creative Industries as an Interior Designer in Sydney, Perth and London before making a transition to full time painting after studying a BA (hons) Illustration and MA at University of Hertfordshire in fine and applied art practice in 2008.
